JP Hale is coming to Scranton
The Moment I Met JP Hale — And Why He’s Coming to America

There are certain moments in boxing that you can feel are meant to happen.
A few months back, I was in Belfast with Irish Gene Reed and Cahir Gormley, for the Irish World Title fight between Paddy Donovan and Lewis Croker. We’d been in and out of gyms, meeting boxers, catching up with the Irish boxing scene. Belfast has a heartbeat like no other — raw, tough, proud. We were driving through one of the main streets when, out of nowhere, we spotted a young man on a bike.
Cahir leaned towards me and said,“That’s JP Hale.”
He’d mentioned JP to me before... told me he was one of the best talents coming out of Ireland, a real fighter with grit and skill. So we pulled over, rolled down the window, and started chatting. Within seconds, I could tell, JP wasn’t just a talented boxer. He was a good man. Driven. Humble. Focused. You could see the fire in his eyes.
He talked about boxing like it was his whole world... and for him, it is. Coming from Belfast, from a tough part of town, he’s fought for everything he’s ever had. But what stood out most to me wasn’t where he came from, it was where he’s going. His mindset, his energy, his respect for the sport. That’s what real champions are made of.
So right there, I knew I wanted to give him an opportunity. I told Gene and Cahir,“We need to bring him over. He deserves this.”
And now, that moment has come.
JP Hale is coming to America.

JP makes his Scranton Debut
This November 1st, JP Hale will make his Scranton debut on our next Team Ireland Returns show, stepping into the ring as co-main event alongside Cahir Gormley.
Before fight night, he’s flying in early, arriving October 14th to train, spar, and get ready with the team at Irish Boxing Club. Two full weeks of preparation leading into one massive night.
This is huge for JP. He’s one of Ireland’s top boxers, an Irish Elite Champion, a four-time Ulster Champion, and a proud representative of Belfast’s Star ABC club. He’s competed on the biggest stages, including the European Championships and Commonwealth Games. But this, this is different. This is his moment to showcase his talent on U.S. soil, under the bright lights, in front of an American crowd.
And if you’ve ever seen him fight… you know you don’t want to blink.
